WE TESTED POSITIVE

 I.
Tested positive for having faith in God
When it wasn't easy and things were rough
Went under the waves
And came through the storms
Went through the fire
And grevious burns
But I—
Just tested positive for having faith in God,
And knowing that storms don't last.

II.
I tested positive for having doubts
So many times when I cried out loud
Tears in the pillow, asking why
Why the pain, Lord haven't I tried?
Why are things so freaking hard?!
Are you mean because I've been bad?
Everytime I just feel sad
Like you mixed my bread with sand
But I—
Just tested positive for having faith in God,
And knowing that storms don't last.

III.
Things were silent in the storm
The world watched as I beat the walls
Locked in, no one to help me out
I'm screaming loud without a sound
Wasn't chained, but I was bound
To worrying for God to come through
I understood when the tides turned
He was there all along
But those days were long and dark
And I—
Just tested positive for having faith in God,
And knowing that storms don't last.

IV.
I heard from a friend who heard from a friend
This kind of faith is highly contagious
Like a virus, it's going to spread
She breathes, her joy infectious
You're going to hear from her
Because she just—
Tested positive for having faith in God,
And knowing that storms don't last.

V.
I always had these negative thoughts in my head
And every night when I lay in bed
Why do I have to be the one wishing I was dead
'Cause nobody always cared
And life has always been so unfair
But I,
Just tested positive for having faith in God,
And knowing that storms don't last.

VI.
Many times when I felt sad, rejected and lonely,
Times when I felt I was failing and losing myself—
But He has been the only one there for me
Directed wonderful people to my side,
Times when I cried and had no one to lean on
He gave me reasons why I should hold on,
Hold on to life
And gave me hope that sad phases in my life won't go on and on.
Cause I—
Just tested positive for having faith in God,
And knowing that storms don't last!

VII.
Always keeping my faith in Him from now on
And He'll always guide me, forevermore
Now here's my part after hearing from a friend
Another one He directed to me!
And we just—
Tested positive for having faith in God,
And knowing that storms don't last!
We just tested positive for having faith in God,
And knowing that storms don't last!

IT IS A TERRIBLE THING TO NOT KNOW HOW GREAT YOU ARE

Hello, and welcome to Haven Incorporated. This is the very first post minted in our press, and hopefully the continuation of something great. We hope you find value in this space and find it a place to stay. It's indeed a terrible thing to not know how great one is. Usually, we hear warnings to desist from pride and cease from arrogance, that pride goes before an unpleasant fall and humility comes before honour. But having a healthy sense of self and worth is not as emphasised. And I dare say, it's better to be proud than falsely humble! Just tonight, I saw a man who didn't know how great he was, and it pierced my heart to see him so. Maybe he knew, but only humbled himself for the moment, but I didn't think it necessary for him to have done so. But it's terrible to not know how great you are! It occurred to me that culture and tradition, perhaps, makes us stagnant and backwards in the face of progress. It is true that we learn great virtue and core valu...

THE MAN WHO LOST ALL HOPE

This is the story of a boy who couldn't cope But there was a man who gave him some hope With love, he washed him like soap Till the depressed was full of hope. This is the story of the boy who couldn't cope Till a man came and gave him some hope. But, then, we heard he died; That is, the man who gave him some hope. But how did he die? We heard he took his own life Because he, too, couldn't cope... It's indeed strange, how some of the most friendly and helpful people in the world have deep struggles they share with no one, how despite giving hope to others, they end up taking their own lives, or keep suffering in silence. It's a deep tragedy indeed. Let's also take out time to give joy to those who always do their best to make us happy. © tokede el-iyanu 2021

THE STORY A PROFESSOR TOLD ME

A story my professor told me, A new way of life, it showed me; Those who are wise will hold this, For every man needs to know this. And so he said to me: A man came to him in need, Sir, I need your help to feed: My dear sir, please... But this wasn't the first, And surely won't be last, Professor thought to himself: We can't keep doing this. And, so, Professor said to him: I, as well, I am in need, You see, my car, I need to clean, And you, you need to feed, Can we consider it a deal? And the man thought it wise a thing. Indeed, it was wise a thing; To be paid as much as kings— Where do you find such a thing? Wise, if you know what that means! As the man washed Professor's car, Some also needed to clean theirs, So the man washed their cars, And also cleaned his scars, For a beggar's soul is scarred. Now, he doesn't need to beg; The wise will learn a lesson, In a story filled with lessons. A word is enough for the wise, Or for those who want to be wise.. ...
