TO KNOW I GOT YOU (WONDER WOMAN)

Omo, you dey make my heart dey beat

Thinking of you, my mind dey sweet

Like Chike I wan dey run to you

Dem say life na suru

But for you I be eran nuru

I still smile when I think of you

Revisit talks I had with you

I dey bless God because of you

Like which material he use make you?

Not perfect but we need to be

In case you're wondering, same applies for me

But I know enough to not judge me

Like I wouldn't want to judge me

You're like a dream come true

Everyday I wanna shout out to you

You remind me of Queen Esther

You're one great queen, remember!

That mercy and dear compassion

You are my friend, my dear companion

Relating don't have to be romantic

Forgive me my dear antics

But it's good to know I've got you

Someone brave and down-earth humble

You no dey do gra gra, you no dey fumble

See how freely I speak with you?

Means the world to me, true!

You're a woman but you are my bro

And I respect you kindly, aburo..

IT IS A TERRIBLE THING TO NOT KNOW HOW GREAT YOU ARE

Hello, and welcome to Haven Incorporated. This is the very first post minted in our press, and hopefully the continuation of something great. We hope you find value in this space and find it a place to stay. It's indeed a terrible thing to not know how great one is. Usually, we hear warnings to desist from pride and cease from arrogance, that pride goes before an unpleasant fall and humility comes before honour. But having a healthy sense of self and worth is not as emphasised. And I dare say, it's better to be proud than falsely humble! Just tonight, I saw a man who didn't know how great he was, and it pierced my heart to see him so. Maybe he knew, but only humbled himself for the moment, but I didn't think it necessary for him to have done so. But it's terrible to not know how great you are! It occurred to me that culture and tradition, perhaps, makes us stagnant and backwards in the face of progress. It is true that we learn great virtue and core values from our...

THE MAN WHO LOST ALL HOPE

This is the story of a boy who couldn't cope But there was a man who gave him some hope With love, he washed him like soap Till the depressed was full of hope. This is the story of the boy who couldn't cope Till a man came and gave him some hope. But, then, we heard he died; That is, the man who gave him some hope. But how did he die? We heard he took his own life Because he, too, couldn't cope... It's indeed strange, how some of the most friendly and helpful people in the world have deep struggles they share with no one, how despite giving hope to others, they end up taking their own lives, or keep suffering in silence. It's a deep tragedy indeed. Let's also take out time to give joy to those who always do their best to make us happy. © tokede el-iyanu 2021

THE STORY A PROFESSOR TOLD ME

A story my professor told me, A new way of life, it showed me; Those who are wise will hold this, For every man needs to know this. And so he said to me: A man came to him in need, Sir, I need your help to feed: My dear sir, please... But this wasn't the first, And surely won't be last, Professor thought to himself: We can't keep doing this. And, so, Professor said to him: I, as well, I am in need, You see, my car, I need to clean, And you, you need to feed, Can we consider it a deal? And the man thought it wise a thing. Indeed, it was wise a thing; To be paid as much as kings— Where do you find such a thing? Wise, if you know what that means! As the man washed Professor's car, Some also needed to clean theirs, So the man washed their cars, And also cleaned his scars, For a beggar's soul is scarred. Now, he doesn't need to beg; The wise will learn a lesson, In a story filled with lessons. A word is enough for the wise, Or for those who want to be wise.. ...
