STEADY HAND (CLOUDED INTENTIONS)

Refrain:
Need a steady hand, intentions clouded
Oluwa guide me, I no wan looseguard me
I for say make you save me
But you don already save me
Almighty guide me
Make I no looseguard me

Iyanu:
Baba take the wheel I pray
Smoke just dey block my way
I try again and again
Smoke just dey block my way
Where I wan carry myself put
If no be hand of God like suit
Need a steady hand wey fit
Carry me up like lift
Cause smoke just dey block my way
Baba take the wheel I pray
Smoke just dey block my way!

Rahma:
Need a steady hand, intentions clouded
Many many things wey dey man mind
How to live, and how to do things right
And even when it seem like I'm loosing my mind
I run to You, You know my plight!
Open my heart and let me see your light
'Cause only You fit save my kind
And only you I fit rely on, every night and day
Take me higher, cause smoke just dey block my way
Even when it feels like I'm losing, like people say
Take the wheel
Smoke just just dey block my way!

Iyanu:
Baba speak for me
Na you bespoke me
Baba guide me
Na you tailor me
Baba fashion me
Make evil run for me
Baba cover me
Sand sand dey find garri
Na last dem wan make I carry
Alaye dem wan suck my blood
But in His presence will I tarry
Who again dey if no be God?
He's my resting place inside the storm!

Together:
Need a steady hand, intentions clouded
Oluwa guide me, I no wan looseguard me
I for say make you save me
But you don already save me
Almighty guide me
Make I no looseguard me
Only you I fit rely on night and day
Take me higher, cause smoke dey block my way
Even when it feels like I'm losing my way
Take the wheel
'Cause smoke just dey block my way...

IT IS A TERRIBLE THING TO NOT KNOW HOW GREAT YOU ARE

Hello, and welcome to Haven Incorporated. This is the very first post minted in our press, and hopefully the continuation of something great. We hope you find value in this space and find it a place to stay. It's indeed a terrible thing to not know how great one is. Usually, we hear warnings to desist from pride and cease from arrogance, that pride goes before an unpleasant fall and humility comes before honour. But having a healthy sense of self and worth is not as emphasised. And I dare say, it's better to be proud than falsely humble! Just tonight, I saw a man who didn't know how great he was, and it pierced my heart to see him so. Maybe he knew, but only humbled himself for the moment, but I didn't think it necessary for him to have done so. But it's terrible to not know how great you are! It occurred to me that culture and tradition, perhaps, makes us stagnant and backwards in the face of progress. It is true that we learn great virtue and core values from our...

THE MAN WHO LOST ALL HOPE

This is the story of a boy who couldn't cope But there was a man who gave him some hope With love, he washed him like soap Till the depressed was full of hope. This is the story of the boy who couldn't cope Till a man came and gave him some hope. But, then, we heard he died; That is, the man who gave him some hope. But how did he die? We heard he took his own life Because he, too, couldn't cope... It's indeed strange, how some of the most friendly and helpful people in the world have deep struggles they share with no one, how despite giving hope to others, they end up taking their own lives, or keep suffering in silence. It's a deep tragedy indeed. Let's also take out time to give joy to those who always do their best to make us happy. © tokede el-iyanu 2021

THE STORY A PROFESSOR TOLD ME

A story my professor told me, A new way of life, it showed me; Those who are wise will hold this, For every man needs to know this. And so he said to me: A man came to him in need, Sir, I need your help to feed: My dear sir, please... But this wasn't the first, And surely won't be last, Professor thought to himself: We can't keep doing this. And, so, Professor said to him: I, as well, I am in need, You see, my car, I need to clean, And you, you need to feed, Can we consider it a deal? And the man thought it wise a thing. Indeed, it was wise a thing; To be paid as much as kings— Where do you find such a thing? Wise, if you know what that means! As the man washed Professor's car, Some also needed to clean theirs, So the man washed their cars, And also cleaned his scars, For a beggar's soul is scarred. Now, he doesn't need to beg; The wise will learn a lesson, In a story filled with lessons. A word is enough for the wise, Or for those who want to be wise.. ...
