IYANUOLUWA (A Miracle to Mankind) by Dasho Elizabeth

A loyal friend

A man who pays attention

Don't have many friends

But many call him friend

His smiles brightens your day

And his attitudes keeps you out of worries

Charismatic and respectful

He knows honour

He's a gift amongst men

Good with skills

Best when teaching the skills

A man made me cherish Tennis

Cause he never gets tired of teaching me

when the course seems difficult

He made tennis fun

Even when I didn't understand it

He guided me through

Motivations and encouragement

Had no choice but to learn it

I call him my coach

 indeed he his

incredible, loving and great

The sport field has always been fun

Yes fun with IYANUOLUWA

You are a miracle to mankind

You are to me

Thanks for making sport fun

Thanks for cheering me up

Thanks for looking out for me

I'm grateful

I'm glad I'm your friend

Happy belated birthday

IYANUOLUWA.

Composed by Comrade Dasho Elizabeth Adeola, currently a 300 Level Health Education student of the Lagos State University, LASU. She's a dear friend and sister, and her words are kindly tailored and fit to a tee. She truly took out time to measure me. I'm perhaps not as patient sometimes (lol!) But this means a lot to me. Thank you kindly Dasho, I am amazed.

IT IS A TERRIBLE THING TO NOT KNOW HOW GREAT YOU ARE

Hello, and welcome to Haven Incorporated. This is the very first post minted in our press, and hopefully the continuation of something great. We hope you find value in this space and find it a place to stay. It's indeed a terrible thing to not know how great one is. Usually, we hear warnings to desist from pride and cease from arrogance, that pride goes before an unpleasant fall and humility comes before honour. But having a healthy sense of self and worth is not as emphasised. And I dare say, it's better to be proud than falsely humble! Just tonight, I saw a man who didn't know how great he was, and it pierced my heart to see him so. Maybe he knew, but only humbled himself for the moment, but I didn't think it necessary for him to have done so. But it's terrible to not know how great you are! It occurred to me that culture and tradition, perhaps, makes us stagnant and backwards in the face of progress. It is true that we learn great virtue and core valu...

THE ROAD IS NEVER ALONE

I Spoke to King Solomon yesterday, Told him I was sad and lonely, yeah; He looked at me and deeply smiled, Showed me a god-forsaken road, Then said: Listen carefully and watch, my child— The road is never alone! Listen, he said, the road is never alone! Your joy is yours, and so is sadness, Listen carefully, he said, my child— The road is never alone, And so you never walk alone! The path is lonely, and the lane is dark, Your mind is filled With a lot of things you can't track, Still, you never walk alone. Dark skies like a blacked-out picture, Blowing like garments without cincture, Tripping your feet chasing the future, Bad news that keeps the soul injured; At times, happiness becomes a decoy, Deflecting attention like a wind-up toy, But sadness remains behind the smile, Mind shattering like a broken tile… But I spoke to King Solomon yesterday, Told him I was sad and lonely, yeah; He looked at me and deeply smiled, Showed me a god-forsaken road, Then said: Listen carefully and wa...
