FORTITUDE

They say in life you need some fortitude

How you respond to setback

It shows your attitude

Whether we're bitter or show some gratitude

Or we fall back and show some latitude

Don't let failure get to your head

They're better days ahead!

(It's why in life, you need some fortitude!)

Don't let success get to you

They're better days ahead

(It's why in life you need some attitude!)

Hear, I'm not a man inclined to stress

I would have given up before starting at first

But mother encouraged me to push on a bit

And I must confess, I sure enjoyed the feat

But it turns out it wasn't for me

Alas, it wasn't meant to be

But God worked it out for me

And brought the glory down for Him

For God works in mysterious ways

And blesses his people in glorious ways

If God comes for friends, he comes for you

It's never the end, believe, it's true!

It's why we need an attitude of gratitude

And his strength to give us some fortitude

See, I'm a man set in my ways

Stubborn as a mule on any good day

But God is the egg that breaks the rock

And the true shepherd that guides his flock

The days he changes to his will

That his children may have their fill

He makes the rivers out of dry ground

To wipe their faces of all frowns

Every situation bears his seal

That his children do not in vain till

Still on course he keeps their wheel

And his presence they all but feel

As his mighty hands to raise them

As their coffers he comes to fill

The hand of God we can't deny

For on him do we rely

No matter what the fates imply

Only on God do we rely!

Blessings upon his gracious people

Whose heart feel the move of God's pulling

Whose spirit is supple

Whose actions are graceful

Their generosity most subtle

Shall we forget those who took us up like donkeys?

Who despite positions remain humble

Who put in the yards to make things come through

I pray God's blessings upon his people

And having friends, isn't it wonderful?

So let's fight together to reach the top

But at the end of the day

It's love that never gives up!

IT IS A TERRIBLE THING TO NOT KNOW HOW GREAT YOU ARE

Hello, and welcome to Haven Incorporated. This is the very first post minted in our press, and hopefully the continuation of something great. We hope you find value in this space and find it a place to stay. It's indeed a terrible thing to not know how great one is. Usually, we hear warnings to desist from pride and cease from arrogance, that pride goes before an unpleasant fall and humility comes before honour. But having a healthy sense of self and worth is not as emphasised. And I dare say, it's better to be proud than falsely humble! Just tonight, I saw a man who didn't know how great he was, and it pierced my heart to see him so. Maybe he knew, but only humbled himself for the moment, but I didn't think it necessary for him to have done so. But it's terrible to not know how great you are! It occurred to me that culture and tradition, perhaps, makes us stagnant and backwards in the face of progress. It is true that we learn great virtue and core values from our...

THE MAN WHO LOST ALL HOPE

This is the story of a boy who couldn't cope But there was a man who gave him some hope With love, he washed him like soap Till the depressed was full of hope. This is the story of the boy who couldn't cope Till a man came and gave him some hope. But, then, we heard he died; That is, the man who gave him some hope. But how did he die? We heard he took his own life Because he, too, couldn't cope... It's indeed strange, how some of the most friendly and helpful people in the world have deep struggles they share with no one, how despite giving hope to others, they end up taking their own lives, or keep suffering in silence. It's a deep tragedy indeed. Let's also take out time to give joy to those who always do their best to make us happy. © tokede el-iyanu 2021

THE STORY A PROFESSOR TOLD ME

A story my professor told me, A new way of life, it showed me; Those who are wise will hold this, For every man needs to know this. And so he said to me: A man came to him in need, Sir, I need your help to feed: My dear sir, please... But this wasn't the first, And surely won't be last, Professor thought to himself: We can't keep doing this. And, so, Professor said to him: I, as well, I am in need, You see, my car, I need to clean, And you, you need to feed, Can we consider it a deal? And the man thought it wise a thing. Indeed, it was wise a thing; To be paid as much as kings— Where do you find such a thing? Wise, if you know what that means! As the man washed Professor's car, Some also needed to clean theirs, So the man washed their cars, And also cleaned his scars, For a beggar's soul is scarred. Now, he doesn't need to beg; The wise will learn a lesson, In a story filled with lessons. A word is enough for the wise, Or for those who want to be wise.. ...
